Autism Resources
Thanks to a generous grant from the Ann and Abe Effron Fund of the Community Foundation of Dutchess County, Howland Public Library is able to host a Teen Asperger’s Support/Social Group (TAG) run by Ginny Figlia; Ruth Romero-Nivel; and Nancy Osborn, Behavior Specialist, Anderson Center for Autism. Eight teens from the Beacon City School District get together for instruction and enjoyable activities designed to promote cooperation and social interaction. The group is currently working together to create Vision Boards (see photos). Registration for this school year is now closed but watch for summer activities. Be sure to check out the library’s display of current resources, websites, and books on Autism for families, youth, and professionals.
